September Event TL

But you see, it's not me

Things had seemed for their part, relatively quiet. Too quiet--he knows there are people missing. Whether that is due to the Veiled Order and whatever threat they still presented, or because of that odd chill that had passed through a few nights ago (or both!), Jesper wasn't too sure. Quiet or no, the disappearances have Jesper on edge.

Which means he's trying to keep busy. More recently, that's found him in the kitchens, trying to find something that answers the hunger he's been having lately. Whatever he's found today though has him frowning in what can only be called disgust, barely a bite into it.

"Does this taste off to you?"

And their bombs and their guns {Closed to Wylan and Kaz}

It's further into the week when Jesper realizes just what this hunger is, what truly seems to be striking as appetizing. It's not a hunger he wants--and he worries where else it might lead when he starts catching sight of some others that are fairing worse, that are beginning to decay.

So he makes a choice, a terrible choice. In the span of the day, he finds himself at Wylan's door and then Kaz's. He knocks instead of waltzing in with his normal air of nonchalance. He looks tired, dark shadows under his eyes, his gaze starting to look a bit dazed.

"We need to talk."

Because that's never ominous when Jesper looks as serious as he does.

In your head, in your head, they're dying

He's ignored it as long as he could, the need to feast upon flesh becoming too much. Jesper's skin is ashen, eyes sunken and--is that blood around his mouth?

Those that run into him at this point have two choices: fight or herd. Running will only make them a target to chase, and Jesper is, at this point, all too ready to go after them. And if he catches you? Well...he is very hungry.

Event Write Up

All Fun and Games (Shooting Range)

As much as Jesper loved games of chance, and as much as they called to him with all their uncertainly and excitement, there was one that sang a song he couldn't deny. It was the ring of bullets hitting a target, the scent of gunpowder, and the whispers of flying metal.

So here he was, elbowing his way into the line-up and taking up one of their guns. It was nothing like the pistols at his hip--they were cheap, light. The bullets were bbs at best, little pebbles of metal but enough for him to feel them and knew what path they could and would take once they flew.

He elbows the person next to him and flashes a cocky grin. "Bet you I can make the shot with my eyes closed."

And he does just that. Because he can, because he wants to show off. You can't blame him.

All Fun and Games (Horror House--Closed to 1 slot)

There's a hesitation, seeing the signs and being ushered to the door. There's a promise of wiping one note off his ledger--one strike against him gone. Jesper breathes deep and looks into the dark, foreboding entrance. There's no knowing what to expect once he's in.

But that's not quite the truth either. He knows what his sins are, what mistakes and personal failings are both on that list and not. And that's what's intimidating. What is he going to see, what are they going to make him face? And was one sin worth that?

"You going in?" He asks someone--anyone--next to him, face betraying nothing. It's easy to hide behind a smile and casual demeanor.

All Fun and Games (Tunnel of Love)

This? This was more Jesper's speed. Not that he was afraid of the House of Horrors, but it does leave him a bit shaken. Here he at least stands a chance of some fun. Or the likelihood of adding another sin right back onto his list.

Like we said. Fun

He's not shy about the idea of the ride either, tossing a look your way--or yours. He's an equal opportunist, so he might take a moment to consider all options before approaching with a sly grin. "Do you need some company?"

Till Someone Gets Hurt (Hybrids I)

It's in the second week that Jesper starts to see this Carnival as a real problem. And it's not because he's out of coins (that just puts him in a foul mood). It's definitely in line with the fact that there's word of people missing--and now there's some new tent and event going on?

Jesper doesn't buy it as being a coincidence. This is only proven when he starts making his way through this new horror show. "All the Saints and your aunt Eva."

Jesper's trying to look calm, but his disgust is harder to hide behind a mask of indifference as he takes in the displays. "Someone should do something..."

Current Characters: Blue Sargent [personal profile] bluewithenvy | Zelda [personal profile] inmemoriae

IC Info

Name: Jesper Fahey
Canon: Grishaverse
Age: 17-18
Appearance: Zemeni born, Jesper is dark-skinned with grey eyes. He is long-limbed and lean, constantly in motion. Inej once described him as "a gangly-limbed bird". He seems especially lanky and out of place without his pearl-handled dual pistols, which he almost always has on him and reaches for whenever he is feeling particularly anxious or antsy. He is often described as wearing mismatching attire in bright colors and obnoxious patterns--none of which should work together, but somehow are pulled off by Jesper. (Using Netflix S&B Kit Young for icons)

Canon Point: End of Ch. 24 of Crooked Kingdom, pre-auction.

Background: Prior to the events of Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom, Jesper grew up with his father and mother on a farm in Novyi Zem. His mother, a Grisha, lost her life saving two young girls from poison and his father begged him to never use his abilities lest he meets the same fate. Growing restless in Novyi Zem, Jesper left to attend university in Ketterdam. However, after a night in the Barrel's gambling dens, he became addicted to gambling and later dropped out of university to work for the Dregs and pay off his debts.

Personality: Jesper comes off as a bit of a trickster--witty, sarcastic, and a flirt. But he has a good heart and can be perfectly friendly when he chooses. Around friends or close allies he is good-natured and teasing, though a bit cocky. This is especially evident when he's in his element, finger on the trigger and a target in sight. However, that cockiness can get him in tight spots. As a gambler, if Jesper feels he's on a winning streak he will often choose the path of going all-in over hedging his bets and this has led to him making some...disastrous bets, one of which was literally betting the family farm.

Jesper is Grisha, and when Grisha don't use their powers, they get "sick". For Jesper, this means that he has the energy to burn. He gets restless and anxious. He expells that energy through reckless and impulsive action--often leading to bad decisions. Because of these decisions, and the way they have affected jobs and taken shape in his gambling addiction, Jesper often feels like he's a screw-up and has low self-esteem. He also has loose lips when he's feeling cocky and wants to brag, which doesn't help his self-esteem when those loose lips lead to a botched job and Kaz's retribution and loss of trust. Most of the Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom Duology is spent with him trying to make amends for situations his recklessness has landed himself and others in.

Ultimately, though, Jesper is clever in his own right and an excellent marksman. His confidence in his skills doesn't come from nowhere and without merit. He is loyal to a fault, willing to follow Kaz and his crazy schemes wherever they lead. And while Jesper may not have the self-esteem to spare, he is quick to push others to notice and realize their worth. This is seen quite obviously with Wylan, when he points out that Wylan may be stupid about quite a few things, but he isn't stupid. He has a good heart, but a penchant for finding trouble wherever he goes.

Weaknesses/Temptations: Gambling. Gambling. Gambling. Good lord, do not let this boy near a casino. If it is one thing he'll likely be called back to, it's the call and promise of prizes to be won. This is exceedingly likely if he starts suppressing his powers again--which he will do in Hell.

His loyalties. If he makes friends, or any of his canonmates join him, Jesper will put a lot at risk to keep them safe or to have their backs in a fight.

Powers/Abilities: Grisha--Jesper is a Grisha known as a Materialki or Fabrikator, specifically a Durast. Durasts are talented with materials such as steel, glass, wood (and plants), stone, or anything solid and they can manipulate these materials on a molecular level. Fabrikators can change an object's shape, texture, or composition. They have the ability to make flowers bloom or strip the color from an object, they can make objects move without touching them or remove harmful matter (such as poisons or heavy metals) from another person's body. HOWEVER, Jesper is untrained so his powers have not been properly honed and could be perceived as being rather weak. It should be noted, however, that Wylan believes that his abilities are how Jesper manages to never miss a target.

Sharpshooter--Jesper prides himself in his shot. His most prized possessions are a pair of twin pearl-handled revolvers. He's known for not missing a shot and has been able to hit a target from a rooftop across a town square.

Items: His twin revolvers, a fistful of kruge (Kerch money), and a deck of cards.

Video;

I'm not used to not knowing my way around. So, card houses...dens. [Jesper is so casual, he's lounging in whatever is counting for his bed today, colorful clothes mussed (from sleep or something else, who knows). The grin he wears is easy and boarding on a smirk.] Where can a man go to place a good bet or three? Or get a cheap thrill at least?

[Fact is, easy as Jesper seems, he's antsy. Those that are more attentive might notice it in the way he shifts, how his focus isn't always on screen. It's definitely noticeable as he moves it sit up and picks up one of his pistols, almost as if his fingers itched to have the smooth pearl beneath them as he fiddled with it. He empties the bullets from the barrel into his palm before methodically putting them back in.]

Thing is, I need to do a bit more than lazing about, right? Either get in some fun or find something useful to do. So...Who's volunteering info first?
