[Kaz gave her a few names of people who were impacted by their little adventure on the island. Given how traumatic things were, she gives things a little space before she reaches out herself. But follow up questions happen as she sorts things together, so she leaves Jesper a brief message.]
Hi, Jesper. My name is Waverly Earp. I was on the boat to the island last month? Kaz gave me your name as having been part of the ritual in the volcano, and I had a couple of follow up questions, if you have some time? Totally okay if you don't but if you're up for it, feel free to come by and have a drink at Hella Shorty's and we can talk.
[Jesper was going to kill Kaz. Or, at the very least, there would be words and maybe a fist or two thrown. But--Waverly. It's a name he's heard come up more than once. That was enough to at least have him be polite.]
Waverly...I've heard about you, from Willa. I uh...What kind of follow-up questions exactly? I don't mind but I prefer to know what I'm walking into.
[That response doesn't bother her as much as it did a month earlier, but she and Willa are in a better place. With the Mares coming that may get complicated, but that's not Jesper's problem.]
Kaz said you were marked? And I wanted to see if you remembered anything from the volcano. I know we were stoned and it's hard to trust what you saw but any little detail could help.
[He breathes, more of a huff of annoyance at Kaz than anything.]
Yeah, I was. And I remember...pieces? I'm sure you know how that goes. But your earlier offer--I'm going to need that drink if I'm going to talk about it. I can meet you there in a couple of minutes.
[We'll ignore the fact that by most standards Jesper was well below drinking age--such things didn't exist in the Barrel, and he certainly wasn't going to deny himself a drink because of some arbitrary rules that Hell seems to hide in its fine print.]
[And as promised, when he arrives at the bar, a bottle of their best whiskey will be sitting there, with two glasses poured out beside it. Waverly's taking notes from her last call, but she looks up when Jesper enters with a smile.]
[ He's very grateful for the whiskey. He has a feeling he'll need it.]
